I Will Give Thanks to the Lord With My Whole Heart

How I Created My Psalm 9:1 Canva Scripture Template

Introduction

Gratitude is one of the most powerful expressions of faith. When we pause to thank God for His blessings, we open our hearts to deeper peace and spiritual joy. Throughout the Bible, believers are encouraged to express thankfulness for God’s love, guidance, and mercy.

One of my favorite verses about gratitude is Psalm 9:1:

“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”

This verse reminds us that gratitude should not be partial or hesitant. Instead, it should come from our whole heart.

As a faith-based content creator and blogger, I enjoy sharing scripture messages that encourage gratitude, hope, and reflection. Sometimes a beautifully designed scripture quote can inspire someone to pause and remember God’s goodness.

That is why I decided to create a Canva template inspired by Psalm 9:1.

The design reflects both my preppy aesthetic and my love for Catholic faith-based inspiration. It features a pink background with black bows and pearl details, along with the scripture written in a bold black script font.

The process of designing this template became a meaningful creative moment where faith and art came together.

In this post, I will share the inspiration behind Psalm 9:1 and explain how I used the Canva app to create this preppy faith design.

The Meaning of Psalm 9:1

Psalm 9 is a psalm of praise written by King David. In this passage, David expresses gratitude to God for His protection, justice, and faithfulness.

The verse begins with a powerful declaration:

“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart.”

This phrase highlights the importance of sincere gratitude. Thankfulness is not meant to be casual or temporary. Instead, it should come from a place of genuine devotion.

Giving thanks with our whole heart means recognizing God’s presence in every aspect of our lives. It means acknowledging that every blessing, opportunity, and moment of peace comes from Him.

The second part of the verse says:

“I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”

This encourages believers not only to feel gratitude but also to share it with others.

By speaking about God’s goodness, we remind ourselves and others of His faithfulness.

Psalm 9:1 ultimately teaches us that gratitude and praise should be central parts of our spiritual lives.

Inspiration for My Canva Design

When I design scripture graphics, I like to combine meaningful visuals with a clear message of faith.

For this design, I wanted something that reflected gratitude while also matching my preppy aesthetic style.

Preppy designs often include soft feminine colors, elegant patterns, bows, pearls, and classic typography.

These elements create a cheerful and polished appearance that feels uplifting and welcoming.

The idea for this design was to create a background featuring pink and black bows with pearl details. The bows represent elegance and grace, while pearls symbolize purity and beauty.

Combining these elements with the scripture created a design that felt both stylish and faith-centered.

Creating the Canva Background

One of the first steps in my design process was creating the background.

Using Canva’s background generator tool, I experimented with different patterns and textures.

The goal was to design a background that felt visually interesting without distracting from the scripture quote.

I used the generator to create a pattern of pink and black bows with pearl accents. The pink tones give the design a warm and joyful feeling, while the black bows provide contrast and elegance.

The pearl details add a delicate and sophisticated touch that complements the preppy aesthetic.

This background became the foundation of the entire template.

Adding the Scripture Quote

Once the background was complete, I focused on placing the scripture quote in the center of the design.

The quote reads:

“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart” — Psalm 9:1

To make the verse stand out clearly against the patterned background, I chose a bold black script font.

Script fonts add elegance and personality to a design. They also create a handwritten feel that makes the message feel personal and heartfelt.

The bold lettering ensures that the scripture remains the focal point of the graphic.

Why I Chose Black Script Font

Typography plays a major role in how a design communicates its message.

For this scripture graphic, I chose a black script font because it creates strong contrast against the pink background.

Black is also a timeless and classic color that symbolizes strength and clarity.

The script style adds softness and elegance, making the quote feel both powerful and graceful.

Together, the font and color combination allow the scripture to be easily readable while maintaining the aesthetic of the design.

The Role of Color in the Design

Color choices can influence how people emotionally respond to a design.

Pink was chosen for this template because it represents warmth, kindness, and joy.

These emotions align perfectly with the message of gratitude in Psalm 9:1.

Black was used to balance the brightness of the pink and create visual contrast.

The pearl accents introduce subtle highlights that make the design feel polished and sophisticated.

Together, these colors create a design that feels uplifting and elegant.

Why I Love Creating Scripture Templates

Designing scripture graphics is one of my favorite creative activities.

It allows me to combine my passion for faith with my love for design.

Sharing scripture visually can make it easier for people to reflect on God’s word throughout their day.

Sometimes a simple image with a Bible verse can provide comfort or encouragement during difficult moments.

When shared on blogs, Pinterest, or social media, scripture graphics can reach people around the world.

Faith and Creativity

Creativity is a gift from God.

The beauty of art, design, music, and writing all reflect the creativity of our Creator.

When we create something meaningful, we are participating in that same creative spirit.

Designing faith-based graphics becomes a form of worship.

It allows us to share messages of hope, gratitude, and encouragement with others.

Living a Life of Gratitude

Psalm 9:1 reminds us that gratitude should be part of our daily lives.

Even in challenging seasons, there are always blessings to recognize.

Thanking God for those blessings helps shift our focus away from worry and toward hope.

Living with gratitude strengthens our faith and reminds us that God is always present.

Conclusion

Creating this Psalm 9:1 Canva template was both a creative and spiritual experience.

The pink and black bows with pearl details create a joyful and elegant background, while the bold black script font highlights the powerful message of gratitude.

The verse reminds us that our hearts should always remain thankful to God.

Through design, creativity, and faith, we can share that message with others and inspire moments of reflection and praise.

Every time someone reads this verse, they are reminded to pause and thank God with their whole heart.
